The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced the winners of this year’s Scientific and Technical awards at a special black-tie dinner held at the prestigious Beverly Wilshire hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Actress Jessica Alba was on hand to present the awards to this year’s recipients.

While there were many winners, I was delighted to see Sebastian Cramer and Andreas Dasser of P&S Technik GmbH receive a Technical Achievement award for the mechanical design of the Skater Dolly and its family of products. An award for Scientific and Engineering went to Dr. Doug Roble, Nafees Bin Zafar and Ryo Sakaguchi of Digital Domain for the development of the fluid simulation system.

Additionally, David A. Grafton received the Gordon E. Sawyer award, David S. Inglish received the John A. Bonner award and Jonathan Erland received the Award of Commendation. Congratulations to all the winners.
